The Maltese Young People in Riva Ligure (Italy)

Between Monday 26th August and Sunday 1st September 2019, 2 young Maltese people from Aġenzija Żgħażagħ South youth Service, participated in the Radio Campo, in Riva Ligure, Italy hosted by Radioimmaginaria Media Hub.  The youth joined other young people from across Italy. The primary goal of this camp was to provide the young people with  learning experiences in how to prepare, present and record live radio programmes.

The young people had the opportunity to learn new techniques on how to prepare a radio programme, using various sound equipment and how sound engineers tackle various challenges during live broadcasts or recorded radio programmes. The youth had the opportunty to interviews local actors, music bands and encountered the mayor of Riva Ligure. The participants made new friends and expanded their social network with other youth who are like them present radio programmes on the Radioimmaginaria portal.

Besides the daily radio broadcasts, the youth had different activities. They went swimming and participated in beach volleyball, football, and tennis tournaments. One of the trip's highlights was the colour party on the beach on the last night, with the DJ and lots of music. Needless to say, this was a colourful event with everyone's white-shirts looking like a rainbow at the end of the event..

Radioimmaginaria is an online radio for young people in Europe, produced, directed and managed by young people of age 11 to 17 years. The participants have been training how to do online radio programmes and are starting to produce the first online radio programs themselves. The young people edit and put the programme together by mixing the sound, add the music and upload it online. One can tune in and listen to these broadcasts by visiting https://radioimmaginaria.it/en/listen/language/english
