Għanj' Għalik Kick Off Meeting

Aġenzija Żgħażagħ together with the St Benedict College Kirkop Secondary School has met with representatives of schools taking part in the first edition of the Għanj’Għalik programme. Għanj’Għalik offers a platform for students attending middle and secondary school interested in the crafting of songs in Maltese. Aġenzija Żgħażagħ aims to encourage local young talent and promote it, while also strengthen avenues through which young people may express their voice with the wider society. Għanj’Għalik is another development in the opportunities Aġenzija Żgħażagħ offers to young people through its empowerment programme.

What’s in it for the young people?
Young people will experience working in teams to craft lyrics and music making up their song. During this process they will also meeting with professional and established song writers and music arrangers who will advise on techniques which may be used to develop their skills further. Furthermore, the young students will be sustained with specialist knowhow and resources to record their song. Throughout this process young people will be supported through their communication with link teachers and through the support of St Benedict College Kirkop Secondary School and Agenzija Zghazagh. Agenzija Zghazagh will also be offering the young people personal develpment sessions to support their journey throughout this programme and inspire them to aspire further and beyond the remit of this 6-month period.

Final Celebration
The Għanj’Għalik programme will come to a closure on the 20th March 2020 in a celebration concert bringing together participants from different schools. This event will be held at St Benedict College Kirkop secondary School with the collaboration of Għanja tal-Poplu and Pjazza Teatru Rjal.

This programme is being launched following a successful pilot held at the St Benedict College Kirkop secondary School.
