Artivisti Interdisciplinary Residency Experience  23/05/2018
Artivisti Interdisciplinary Residency Experience

Artivisti is an opportunity for young emerging artists offering nourishing potential, creativity, talent, initiative and social responsibility hence limiting the likelihood that young creatives will delay their professional development and be discouraged from participating in creative endeavours and opportunities for creative growth.

Other than the mentoring programme with creative professionals, the young artivisti are offered an interdisciplinary residency programme designed to maximise cultural immersion and creative development of participants. The residency has the aim of facilitating productive interaction between creatives. Through the initiatives of the interdisciplinary residency, the artivisti are encouraged to draw on networking experiences, engage in creative collaborations and cross-pollination of ideas, engage with different communities and the wider public.

The interdisciplinary residency, facilitated by Aġenzija Żgħażagħ, is a profile of a number of initiatives including peer sessions, behind the scenes touring, a meet the artist series, and a residential experience. While a most of the mentioned initiatives are ongoing, the Artivisti residential has taken place between the 18th and 20th May 2018 at Villa Psaigon, Dingli.

The programme included a workshop on the theme ‘Art as Politics’ by Gabi Calleja and Nadine Noko, a session by Annalisa Schembri focusing on developing a pitch to describe own work, and a meeting with the Artist of the Year Diane Portelli. The young artivisti also had the opportunity to discuss with policy makers Miriam Teuma, CEO Aġenzija Żgħażagħ and Elaine Falzon from Arts Council Malta

Artivisti comes through a shared vision embraced by Aġenzija Żgħażagħ and Arts Council Malta for the widening of participation of young people in cultural life. You may find further information about the programme in the guidelines here.
